Technical Manager - Workers Compensation Claims

About the role

Gallagher Bassett is hiring a Technical Manager in Melbourne, Victoria. As the primary in-team specialist for technical claims and Workers Compensation knowledge, you will coach and mentor claims staff on complex claims matters and use your knowledge of Workers Compensation legislation to review and endorse claims decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Apply specialist Workers Compensation technical knowledge to complex claims and act as a technical reference point for Case Managers and Senior Case Managers
• Guide and advise employer clients needing specialist technical assistance
• Interact with and give instructions to Legal Panel firms on pre-litigated and litigated matters within required timeframes
• Provide updates to employers, employer consultants and other parties on litigated matters
• Undertake adverse decision quality revisions and endorsements
• Complete case conferencing with Case Managers and attend claims review meetings when required
• Undertake pre-conciliation checks, assist with strategy and attend conciliation conferences as required
• Mentor and coach other team members

Required profile

• Experience in the Workers Compensation industry and in applying Work Cover legislation
• Ability to interpret and apply the Accident Compensation Act
• Experience in a client service role
• Bachelor of Law degree and/or industry-related qualifications are ideal
