Technical Director Ports and Marine

About the role

AECOM is seeking a highly experienced Technical Director for its Ports & Maritime team in Australia. This senior leadership position will drive innovation and excellence across large‑scale maritime infrastructure projects, leveraging strong Defence experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver technically complex ports and maritime infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, innovation and client satisfaction.
• Use Defence maritime expertise to win and deliver large‑scale programmes, managing risk and safety compliance with local and international codes.
• Provide strategic technical direction throughout project lifecycles and mentor engineers to build capability and succession.
• Build and sustain strong client and stakeholder relationships, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
• Champion continuous improvement, represent AECOM as a thought leader through publications and conference presentations.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in the Defence maritime sector managing and designing large‑scale infrastructure programmes.
• Proven project management and design experience with senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Track record of delivering high‑quality ports and maritime projects.
• Eligibility for an Australian baseline security clearance.
