Civil Engineer - Construction

About the role

You will join a professional, collaborative team delivering civil and infrastructure projects across transport, industrial, built environment and public domain sectors. The position is based in Sydney and focuses on construction activities with occasional design review opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake civil construction inspections, prepare records and reports, and manage Hold Points and Witness Points.
• Review contractor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), material submissions, product approvals, shop drawings and technical documentation for compliance.
• Respond to RFIs, resolve site‑based technical issues, and review non‑conformances, defects and construction departures.
• Support construction verification, certification, project close‑out and TfNSW Independent Project Verification activities.
• Coordinate with contractors, clients, authorities and multidisciplinary design teams while maintaining clear records of decisions and actions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of civil engineering experience, primarily on the construction phase of civil or infrastructure projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a recognised university.
• Proven experience conducting civil construction inspections and working directly with contractors on active sites.
• Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple inspections and priorities autonomously.

Required skills

• Hold Points, Witness Points, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), material approvals, RFIs and construction quality documentation.
• Practical understanding of construction methodologies for roads, drainage, earthworks, pavements and utilities.
• Experience with TfNSW construction, verification or Independent Project Verification processes (highly regarded).
