Technical Designer – Junior – Data Centres

About the role

Gensler Sydney is looking for a Junior Technical Designer to join its growing Data Centres practice. You will work alongside experienced architects and designers, contributing to the design, documentation and delivery of complex data centre projects.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design and delivery of data centre and other complex projects across all phases.
• Develop drawings, documentation, models and presentations, and produce construction documentation.
• Collaborate with architects, designers, clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Assist with technical coordination, resolve design and documentation issues, and participate in project meetings and design reviews.
• Support project sustainability and client ESG objectives throughout the design process.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent.
• 0–3 years of relevant architectural experience.
• Strong design and technical aptitude demonstrated through a portfolio.
• Good analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit for design, documentation and project delivery.
• Working knowledge of Rhino, AutoCAD and BIM coordination workflows.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
• Familiarity with Navisworks, BIM 360, Grasshopper, Dynamo and real‑time visualisation tools (advantageous).
