Team Leader – Water Management Systems

About the role

The Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers is seeking a Team Leader to oversee the support, maintenance and enhancement of critical water‑management information systems. You will guide a technical team, ensure high system availability and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver reliable, compliant solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of technical professionals, providing mentorship and managing workload, performance and resource allocation.
• Oversee ongoing support, maintenance and enhancement of business systems to ensure reliability, performance and high availability.
• Manage incident handling, problem resolution and root‑cause analysis following ITIL service‑management practices.
• Ensure systems meet business requirements and comply with legislative, policy and security frameworks.
• Drive change‑management processes, including planning, testing and implementing system updates.
• Identify optimisation opportunities using data analysis and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver aligned solutions.
• Provide expert advice on technical issues, data analysis and reporting.
• Conduct data analysis with SQL, Power BI and Snowflake; develop dashboards and visualisations.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience delivering team objectives and organisational vision.
• Demonstrated expertise in digital deliveries and ability to lead technical discussions.
• Strong communication skills for building internal and external relationships.
• Ability to influence best practices and drive continuous improvement.
