Tax Accountant

About the role

Canny Group, a long-standing Geelong accounting and advisory firm with over 65 years of service, is looking for a Tax Accountant. The firm works with individuals, families and businesses and is backed by the Wilson Pateras Group. The role sits within a collaborative, people-first culture where you will work closely with senior accountants.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and complete tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare financial statements and manage BAS, IAS and FBT obligations.
• Liaise with the ATO and support clients with timely advice.
• Contribute to a seamless client experience across the practice.

Required profile

• Preference for a minimum of three years' Australian public practice experience.
• Strong technical capability across tax compliance.
• Able to take a set of accounts to review-ready stage and understand Division 7A, GST, CGT and trust distributions.
• Clear communication with clients and colleagues.

Required skills

• Xero and MYOB
• Business Fitness (or other WorkPaper/Workflow) software exposure is a plus
