Credit Controller

About the role

BlueScope's Commercial Services and Transformation team is looking for a Credit Controller in its Mount Waverley office (8:30 AM - 5:00 PM), in a fixed-term 18-month contract. The role sits in a fast-paced, high-volume environment focused on cash collection, risk management and proactive engagement with key partners. Hybrid working is available, including one day per week from home.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of debtor accounts with a focus on risk reduction, cash collection and customer outcomes
• Develop and maintain reporting on monthly and yearly account trends against forecast
• Engage with internal teams, from sales to finance, to ensure timely and accurate responses
• Investigate and escalate customer claims efficiently and appropriately
• Analyse account performance and provide insights on delinquency and trends
• Influence customers in line with agreed trading terms through negotiation and relationship building
• Navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities, and support a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence

Required profile

• Previous experience in credit control or accounts receivable, ideally in a high-volume environment
• Proactive, detail-oriented and adaptable, able to handle competing deadlines
• Clear, professional communication by phone, email and digital platforms
• Confident negotiation and influencing skills, with a solutions-focused mindset

Required skills

• Strong reconciliation skills and sharp eye for detail
• Proficiency in MS Excel
• Experience working with ERP systems
