Tax Accountant

About the role

AAD Taxation, which provides tax and accounting services to individuals, sole traders and businesses across Australia, is hiring a full-time, on-site Tax Accountant in Mulgrave, VIC. The role covers tax returns, BAS and GST lodgements, bookkeeping and payroll, and client tax advice.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual and business tax returns
• Ensure accurate BAS and GST lodgements and comply with current Australian tax laws and regulations
• Prepare and reconcile financial statements, and manage bookkeeping and payroll entries
• Support business setup and reporting activities
• Advise clients on tax planning, deductions and structuring options
• Respond to ATO queries and communicate clearly and professionally with clients
• Work with the team to improve processes and uphold quality standards

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA/CA or working towards certification is an advantage
• Strong knowledge of tax compliance and preparation, with experience applying Australian tax legislation
• Attention to detail, strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Clear communication skills and a client-focused approach, able to explain complex tax matters simply

Required skills

• Financial statement analysis (profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow)
• Bookkeeping, payroll processing, reconciliations and accounting software
• Australian tax and accounting software such as Xero or MYOB
• Strong Excel skills
