Talent Pathways Trainer NT

About the role

The AFL is looking for a Talent Pathways Trainer based in Darwin to help create a safe, professional and supportive environment for players in the NT Talent Academy programs. The trainer supports injury prevention and provides initial injury assessment and management during Academy training sessions and matches, working alongside coaches, high-performance staff and medical professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical sports training support within the limits of your qualifications, escalating injuries that need further assessment or treatment
• Support players at training and matches with injury prevention strategies
• Provide strapping, stretching, massage and strengthening support
• Assess injuries and apply initial injury management procedures
• Escalate serious injury concerns to the physiotherapist, doctor, High-Performance Lead or Head Coach
• Assist with rehabilitation programs under the direction of qualified medical professionals and support a safe return to play
• Refer players to appropriately qualified health professionals when needed
• Create a professional, high-performance and supportive environment for players, coaches and staff
• Attend Academy training sessions and travel with squads for match-day support

Required profile

• Sports Trainer Level 1 training
• Basic strapping training
• Current Working with Children Check (Ochre Card)
• Experience supporting a talented athlete program or football club program
• Knowledge of methods and techniques for treating and rehabilitating injured players
• Availability to attend training sessions and travel with squads
