Systems Engineer - Defence Program

About the role

A Systems Engineer is sought to join a high-profile Defence program delivering mission-critical capability outcomes that support Australia's national security objectives. The role works in a highly secure environment, contributing to the design, integration, verification and delivery of complex systems, and collaborates with Defence stakeholders and multidisciplinary engineering teams. It sits within Mission Software Systems (MSS), which covers intelligence, software and cloud.

Key responsibilities

• Support systems engineering activities across the project lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system design, integration, verification and validation.
• Collaborate with Defence customers, project teams and industry partners to deliver capability solutions meeting operational and technical requirements.
• Contribute to engineering reviews, technical documentation, risk management and systems assurance processes in a secure Defence environment.
• Assist in developing engineering artefacts and technical recommendations that support program delivery.

Required profile

• Essential: experience in systems engineering within Defence, aerospace, intelligence, national security or similar complex environments.
• Essential: experience supporting systems engineering across the system lifecycle, including requirements management, system design, integration, verification and validation.
• Essential: ability to engage with Defence customers, project stakeholders and multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Essential: experience developing and maintaining engineering documentation, technical artefacts and compliance evidence.
• Essential: tertiary qualification in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Must be an Australian citizen holding a TSPV security clearance, able to be successful for a DISA/OSA.
• Advantageous: experience with Defence acquisition, integration or sustainment programs; familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE); experience in secure ICT, communications, cyber security or Defence capability environments; understanding of Defence security, accreditation and engineering governance; understanding of integrating geospatial capabilities into enterprise systems.
