Swimming Teacher (Learn to Swim)

About the role

The City of Rockingham's Leisure Services Team is looking for experienced and qualified swimming instructors to teach and supervise participants in its "Learn to Swim" program. The position is part-time, with a minimum of 5 hours per fortnight, and is fixed term through to 23 March 2027. Applicants are considered for work at both Aqua Jetty and the Rockingham Aquatic Centre, which operate seven days a week including early mornings and evenings.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and supervise participants during swimming lessons, covering the Learn to Swim program
• Keep adequate records
• Maintain a high level of workplace health and safety and follow Aqua Jetty's policies and procedures
• Communicate effectively with a diverse group of people and help participants reach their goals

Required profile

• Previous swimming teaching experience and a good knowledge of related principles and matters, including emergency procedures
• Availability to work in line with the facilities' opening hours
• Current AUSTSWIM Certificate in Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety or equivalent
• Current Provide First Aid Certificate and current CPR certificate
• Current Working with Children Check

What we offer

• Pay of $68,818 per annum pro-rata, which equals $34.83 per hour
