Sustainment Project Manager

About the role

Saab Australia is looking for a Sustainment Project Manager to lead in-service support and engineering change projects within its Engineering Sustainment Team. The role ensures successful delivery of customer outcomes for Combat Management Systems on in-service naval surface vessels, managing scope, schedule, cost, quality and customer outcomes in line with contractual requirements and project directives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering change, capability enhancement, obsolescence remediation and defect resolution activities.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality and governance to achieve agreed outcomes.
• Provide direction and support to the Engineering Sustainment Team and develop in-service support project strategies.
• Prepare, manage and maintain project plans, budgets, forecasts and schedules.
• Identify, assess and manage project risks, issues and opportunities.
• Lead project reviews and present progress updates to customers, steering committees and senior stakeholders.
• Manage contract variations, change requests and evolving project scope.
• Build strong relationships with Defence customers, partners and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Science, Engineering, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated project management and sustainment project delivery experience, ideally in a Naval or Defence environment.
• Experience influencing teams and building collaboration with stakeholders.
• CPPM accreditation or similar (Australian Institute of Project Management).
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
