Structural Engineer – Melbourne

About the role

Join gemba design’s collaborative team as a Structural Engineer, working on a diverse portfolio of building projects from concept through construction. You will be trusted with real responsibility from day one and gain exposure to all stages of project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for a range of materials and systems.
• Prepare calculations, reports, drawings and detailed technical documentation.
• Review documentation to ensure compliance with Australian standards and project requirements.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
• Conduct site inspections and provide construction‑phase support.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges with practical, innovative solutions.
• Support client engagement, design management and overall project delivery.
• Contribute to the practice’s technical growth and excellence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Structural or Civil Engineering (Washington Accord recognised) with a major in Structural Engineering.
• 2–5 years of experience in structural engineering.
• Strong foundation in applying engineering principles to building projects.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and calculations using relevant software tools.
• Working knowledge of Australian standards, building codes and common construction practices.
• Motivated to learn, collaborative and able to communicate effectively.
