Structural Engineer – Adaptive Reuse

About the role

Join the Adaptive Reuse Team in Melbourne and play a pivotal role in transforming existing buildings into sustainable, high‑performance spaces. You will work alongside engineers, drafters and project managers to deliver structural solutions for refurbishment, strengthening and repurposing projects across residential, commercial, industrial and health sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate structural assessments, design and documentation for adaptive‑reuse and redevelopment projects.
• Develop structural designs from concept through detailed design using first‑principles approaches.
• Produce detailed sketches and engineering reports in Bluebeam PDF.
• Review designs to ensure compliance with Australian codes, client requirements and RBG standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to maintain quality and schedule.
• Support tender proposals and contribute to the growth of the Adaptive Reuse Team.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering qualification with a focus on structural engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an engineering design consultancy.
• Experience or strong interest in adaptive reuse, refurbishment, strengthening or redevelopment projects.
• Solid grounding in steel, concrete, timber and masonry design.
• Understanding of Australian codes and standards.
• Full working rights in Australia.
