Strategy Director (Health / Pharma)

About the role

Orchard, Australia's leading health and wellness agency, is looking for a Strategy Director to set the strategic standard across its Sydney health portfolio, lead the thinking on pitches and build the strategic frameworks the team uses. This is a senior individual contributor role with no direct reporting line, sitting between the client's business problem and the agency's integrated delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with client marketing, medical, digital and commercial teams to diagnose the underlying business problem beyond the brief.
• Translate complex, sometimes competing client priorities into focused strategic questions and develop integrated strategies linking brand positioning, communications, content and digital experience.
• Work with data, UX and CX to pressure-test solutions and turn complex analysis into simple, actionable direction.
• Lead workshops, working sessions and strategy sprints, and act as a trusted advisor to senior client contacts (CMO, Marketing Director, Head of Digital).
• Own the strategic approach on pitches, identify organic growth opportunities in existing health accounts and share open market and industry views.
• Build and maintain the agency's strategic toolkit and raise the quality of output across the Sydney team through coaching and review.
• Stay current on developments in health, pharma and animal health, including regulatory shifts and changing patient, HCP, consumer and veterinary expectations.

Required profile

• 8+ years' experience in a strategic or planning function, ideally in a digital or creative agency.
• Healthcare or pharmaceutical advertising experience is essential; animal health experience is a strong advantage.
• Proven ability to lead, develop and present pitch-winning strategies, and to facilitate client workshops.
• Able to work independently and flexible for US time-zone crossover due to global health and animal health clients.
