Staff Infrastructure Platform Engineer

About the role

Gridsight is building a platform to modernise electricity grid operations. As the first staff engineer on the new Infrastructure Platform team, you will shape technical direction and own end‑to‑end platform problems while the team grows around you.

Key responsibilities

• Build and run observability systems (metrics, tracing, logging, alerting) and define patterns for product teams.
• Evolve deployment pipelines, release management and infrastructure‑as‑code, owning environment and test infrastructure.
• Design secure, multi‑region, cost‑effective infrastructure and embed SOC 2 controls with IT Ops.
• Define SLOs, error budgets, improve incident response and participate in on‑call rotation.
• Improve developer experience by measuring friction, satisfaction and delivering self‑service tools.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tooling to accelerate delivery.

Required profile

• ~8+ years software engineering experience, recently operating at staff level on platform, infrastructure or SRE.
• Deep production experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and strong IaC skills (Terraform preferred).
• Hands‑on SRE practice: SLOs, error budgets, incident response and runbooks.
• Experience running a platform as a product that other engineering teams adopt.
• Proficiency with AI‑assisted development tools.
