Specialist Trainer Assessor - Rail

About the role

A major iron ore mining and processing business in Western Australia is looking for an experienced rail trainer assessor to support the rollout of a new signalling system and build operational capability across train driver teams. The role is a contract position based in Perth, paid $75-$95 per hour, with a 14 days on / 14 days off roster and site travel to Newman and Port Hedland.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver training and assessment activities to train driver personnel
• Support implementation of a new rail signalling system
• Assess operational competency and capability requirements
• Review, update and maintain training and learning materials
• Identify ways to improve training content and delivery methods
• Support knowledge transfer across operational teams and contribute to continuous improvement
• Maintain accurate training records and assessment documentation
• Travel to operational sites as required

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience as a train driver in rail operations
• Minimum Certificate II Assessor Skill Set
• Previous experience delivering training and competency assessments
• Strong understanding of rail operations and procedures
• Previous exposure to shift work environments

Required skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Collaborative teamwork in multidisciplinary operational teams
