Noongar Language Teacher

About the role

Arbor Grove Primary School in Ellenbrook, Western Australia, is looking for a teacher of the Noongar language to join its community. The position is a permanent part-time appointment (0.8 FTE) starting in Term 1, 2027. The school serves a diverse population of over 40 cultures and backgrounds, with about 15% of students identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Key responsibilities

• Immerse students in an understanding of the Noongar language and culture
• Deliver a consistent, integrated and inclusive learning program that engages and motivates students
• Develop students' skills, knowledge and understanding of Noongar language and culture

Required profile

• An eligible teacher qualification and registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia
• Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment
• Ability to immerse students in the language and culture and to run an inclusive, motivating program
• Excellent interpersonal skills and effective classroom management
• Must apply for a WA Working with Children Check and obtain a Screening Clearance Number before starting
