Specialist Technician – ICT Support for Schools

About the role

Bytewize is looking for experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide ICT support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program (TSSP). The role involves managing complex school networks, servers and cloud services, and delivering professional development to school staff. Candidates must have at least five years of senior‑level IT experience in education or comparable corporate environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ICT infrastructure across Department of Education schools.
• Administer Windows and Linux server environments and cloud services (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
• Deploy and manage Hyper‑V virtualisation, Mobile Device Management and image/SOE roll‑outs.
• Configure and support Cisco and HP switching, as well as Cisco wireless controllers and access points.
• Support large fleets of desktops, notebooks, 1:1 and BYOD devices.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT training sessions.
• Produce clear technical documentation and follow systematic troubleshooting procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of senior‑level IT support experience, preferably within the TSSP or education sector.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and organisational skills.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (citizen, PR or permanent visa) and a current driver’s licence.
• Willingness to undergo police and background checks.

What we offer

• Salary range $90,000 – $110,000 per year (pro‑rated), top rates based on experience.
• Flexible employment options: permanent, contract or casual, part‑time or full‑time.
