Specialist Housing Support Worker, Parkes

About the role

CatholicCare Wilcannia-Forbes is looking for a Specialist Housing Support Worker to join its Sustaining Tenancies in Social Housing Program in Parkes, NSW. The role provides intensive, client-centred support to at-risk social housing tenants, helping them avoid and reduce tenancy breaches over a 12-month period and building their capacity to manage their tenancy independently afterwards. It is a full-time position on a maximum term contract until 25 June 2027; further funding may allow an additional contract.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to referrals from DCJ Housing and coordinate a case plan
• Provide intensive case management and engagement so clients stay involved in the program
• Reduce tenancy risk factors and intervene early to prevent homelessness
• Work with first-to-know services such as DCJ Housing, housing providers, correctional facilities, schools, domestic and family violence services and child and family support services
• Provide personal, emotional and practical support, and help clients access education, employment, training, income support and tenancy advice
• Advocate for clients and provide assertive outreach and post-crisis support
• Keep accurate, confidential records and prepare activity and data reports

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience providing client-centred case management and support to individuals or families with complex needs
• Understanding of tenancy sustainment, homelessness prevention and related support services
• Ability to engage clients, build relationships, advocate and work with government and community providers
• Ability to manage caseloads, keep accurate records and meet service targets while maintaining confidentiality
• Strong personal values and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic organisation
• A current Working With Children Check and a current NSW Police check

• Hourly rate from $46.70 depending on experience, skills and qualifications, under the SCHADS award
