Special Education Teacher – Autism Spectrum (Maximum Term)

About the role

Aspect Hunter School is seeking a dedicated teacher to join its autism‑specific program on a maximum‑term basis. You will work in a supportive environment that values evidence‑based practice and a student‑centred approach.

Key responsibilities

• Create and deliver individualized learning programs for students on the autism spectrum.
• Collaborate daily with teacher aides, families, school psychologists, speech therapists and occupational therapists.
• Maintain small class sizes to ensure personalised attention.
• Monitor student progress and contribute to data‑driven reporting.
• Participate in professional development and multidisciplinary team meetings.

• Passion for autism education and a commitment to student‑focused learning.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication skills with students, families and professionals.
• Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to diverse learner needs.

Required skills

• Knowledge of evidence‑based autism teaching strategies.
• Experience designing individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Ability to use data to track and support student growth.
