Solution Architect - Critical Infrastructure Technology Transformation

About the role

A major organisation in the critical infrastructure sector, moving from design into implementation across several programs of work, is seeking a Solution Architect through West Recruitment. The role reports to the Solution Lead Architect and provides architecture guidance, design assurance and requirements definition across multiple technology workstreams. It is not suitable for someone currently acting as an Enterprise Architect. The position is based in Parramatta with a hybrid arrangement; applicants must already be permanently based in Sydney and be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the review and assurance of vendor high-level and low-level solution designs across infrastructure, cyber security and data.
• Assess proposed solutions for technical integrity, security, resilience, integration, scalability and operational supportability.
• Review technical designs and ensure alignment across interconnected systems and workstreams.
• Work with business and technology stakeholders to define requirements, scope, dependencies and solution options.
• Prepare technical documentation and decision papers for Architecture Review Boards.
• Support Statements of Work, business cases, procurement documentation and vendor evaluations.
• Ensure solutions meet cyber security, regulatory and critical infrastructure requirements.
• Support integration between enterprise IT systems, infrastructure, cyber security platforms and operational technology environments.

Required profile

• Seasoned experience in technology architecture and a previous Solution Architect role.
• Broad technical knowledge across infrastructure, networking, cloud, cyber security and data platforms.
• Experience in energy, utilities, construction, engineering or other critical infrastructure environments.
• Delivered infrastructure, cyber/data, GIS, SCADA and asset building projects.
• Experience with Architecture Review Boards or technical Design Authorities and with outsourced delivery partners and multiple vendors.

Required skills

• Solution architecture principles, integration patterns and technology governance.
• Advantageous: IT/OT integration, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, cyber security architecture or enterprise asset management systems.
