Software Engineering Team Lead - Defense Systems

About the role

L3Harris is looking for a Software Engineering Team Lead to join its Eight Mile Plains team, which is the Centre of Excellence for Electronic Warfare. The role combines management and technical responsibilities, roughly 70% technical/design and 30% management, supervising a small team of Application Software Engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, guide and mentor the team, prioritise and escalate actions, and own the application software development schedule and reporting to project and customer stakeholders
• Monitor resource loading, approve leave forms after consulting the Project Manager, and provide technical mentoring on designs
• Support the Software Engineering Group Lead in performance management and quality processes supporting AS9100 accreditation
• Contribute to risk management and propose tools and equipment, including CAPEX proposals
• Own large and complex areas of software architecture and write modular, readable, robust code in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript/React and C++
• Take part in all phases of the software lifecycle, present designs to customers, mentor junior engineers, write documentation and support manufacturing and demos

Required profile

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar
• NV1 security clearance and 17+ years' experience in a similar role
• Proven software engineer experience with a project portfolio and hands-on unit/integration testing and API design
• Ability to work independently or in a multi-disciplinary team
• Desirable: Agile (Scrum/Kanban), UI/UX, DevOps, Docker/Kubernetes, C/C++, distributed secure systems, and an Australian Defence Security Clearance or ITAR eligibility
