Software Engineer (Sydney)

About the role

Abby Health is Australia's largest online clinic, connecting patients to licensed GPs and Nurse Practitioners through same-day, 100% online care. This Software Engineer role covers the whole platform: the patient app, the clinician portal, internal tooling, mobile apps and the API. You report directly to the CTO, a technical co-founder, and work in a small, in-office Sydney team. The role suits an engineer a few years into their career who wants to move fast and grow quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Ship features across the stack: frontend, backend, database, and own the day-to-day delivery of your slice of work
• Contribute to large, complex projects, taking clear ownership of the parts assigned to you
• Clarify assumptions and scope up front, asking the right questions before building
• Keep production healthy: debug real patient-facing issues and respond when things break
• Build a working understanding of how Abby delivers care, so you know why your work matters to patients and clinicians

Required profile

• A few years shipping production software, roughly two years, with real users on the other side of your code
• Comfortable across the stack, with a strength in one area
• Clarifies before building, follows through on commitments and has quality habits
• Coachable, curious and interested in the business, not just the code
• Comfortable with pace and change; startup experience is a strong plus
• Sydney-based and keen to work in person
