Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer

About the role

A skilled Full-stack Senior Software Engineer is sought to join the Qantas Loyalty Retail Team. The role is permanent and based in Sydney, and the engineer guides and leads feature development of the software powering the business unit, mentoring other technical team members to deliver high-quality, well-designed software.

Key responsibilities

• Guide and lead feature development of the software that powers the business unit
• Mentor other technical team members and help the team judge how much design and testing is enough to maximise efficiency
• Spot code design problems early and lead the work to address them

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience as a professional software engineer
• Experienced delivery practitioner with in-depth knowledge of Agile and Lean software development, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration, Test-Driven Development, automated testing best practices and DevOps

Required skills

• Cloud platforms: AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and services relevant to deploying React and Node.js
• HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with strong fundamentals in vanilla JavaScript and browser APIs
• React.js, including state management patterns (Context API, Zustand) and React Hooks
• TypeScript with React
• Node.js server-side programming
• Familiarity with Next.js for server-side rendering and static site generation
• Automated testing tools for React and Node.js
