Software Engineer – Financial Platform Issuing

About the role

Block is building the world’s best financial products. The Financial Platform Issuing team owns the card issuing platform that powers Cash App Card, Square Card and future programs. As a Software Engineer you will design, build and operate services that enable card issuance, transaction processing and dispute handling at massive scale.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the team to design, develop, test, ship and maintain features across card issuance, transaction processing and disputes.
• Write high‑quality, well‑tested code and actively participate in design and code reviews.
• Implement systems within a microservice and event‑driven architecture, ensuring reliability and correctness for financial transactions.
• Take operational ownership of tier‑0 financial systems, including on‑call, incident response and post‑mortems.

Required profile

• 3+ years of software development experience delivering end‑to‑end features.
• Ability to identify and fix flaws in complex, moving‑part systems.
• Growth mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
