Software Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure

About the role

AWS Infrastructure Services designs, plans, delivers and operates AWS global infrastructure, supporting data centres, servers, storage, networking, power and cooling. This Software Engineer role is part of the Best Fit job match program, covering several Software Engineering positions across ANZ, and is open to candidates who do not meet every qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
• Investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility
• Write high-quality distributed system software and perform peer code reviews
• Maintain key system features and drive engineering best practices
• Provide technical direction, establish architectural principles and design patterns, and mentor team members and junior engineers
• Create and review design documentation, SOPs, knowledge transfer material and process documentation

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another technical degree, or related experience
• 3+ years of software development experience
• Experience with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and object-oriented design in Linux/Unix environments

Required skills

• At least one general-purpose language such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust or TypeScript
• Preferred: experience delivering complex software systems, knowledge of the full SDLC (coding standards, source control, build, testing, operations)
• Preferred: exposure to large-scale distributed systems (SQL/NoSQL, scalability, fault tolerance)
