Software DevOps Developer

About the role

Join the AIR6500 program to work on cutting‑edge DevSecOps technologies that support Australia’s air and missile defence capabilities. This role is ideal for early‑career engineers looking to build practical CI/CD and automation experience in a highly regulated defence environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for the AIR6500 software lifecycle.
• Automate software builds, verification, and deployment processes, including status reporting for operational and test releases.
• Monitor and support DevSecOps infrastructure such as container orchestration platforms, build agents, monitoring tools and dashboards.
• Assist with administration and maintenance of DevSecOps tools, engineering tool suites and the 1LMX tool suite.
• Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot build and deployment issues and implement best practices for source control and release management.

Required profile

• Australian citizen eligible for Defence security clearance.
• 2+ years experience in a junior or graduate engineering role, preferably in a regulated or defence environment.
• Strong technical foundation with a passion for automation and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Version and artifact management: GitLab, Nexus.
• CI/CD tools: GitLab CI.
• Issue tracking: Jira.
• Infrastructure as Code: Ansible, Terraform, Packer.
• Scripting/automation in Linux environments.
• Containerisation and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
• MBSE and collaboration tools: IBM Jazz, Microsoft SharePoint.
• API/web services: REST, SOAP, XML, JSON.
• Virtualisation platforms: VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon.
• Proficiency in AI prompting as applicable to the role.
