About the role
HammondCare, an independent Christian charity supporting people to stay in their homes, is looking for a friendly Social Volunteer to spend one hour each week visiting a gentleman who values companionship and connection. The client is originally from Lebanon, speaks Arabic and would enjoy meeting someone who shares an interest in his culture, language or life experiences. Visits could be weekly depending on availability.
Key responsibilities
- Visit the client once a week for about an hour, between 10am and 4pm on Monday or Wednesday.
- Share conversation over a cup of tea, discuss favourite movies, talk about gardening tips, admire the garden or simply enjoy each other's company.
- Help reduce isolation and improve the quality of life of an older person.
Required profile
- 18 years or older.
- National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
- Availability for weekly visits on Mondays or Wednesdays.
