SOC Manager - Cyber Security Leadership

About the role

A growing cyber security business in Melbourne is looking for an experienced SOC Manager to lead its security operations function, develop its people and strengthen the delivery of security services to clients. The role suits an established security leader who combines technical credibility with people management, operational delivery and a strong understanding of the modern threat landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of SOC analysts and security professionals.
• Oversee security monitoring, alert triage, threat detection and incident response.
• Drive incident escalation, investigation and resolution processes.
• Improve SOC procedures, playbooks, workflows and operational efficiency.
• Monitor service delivery, operational performance, SLAs and key metrics.
• Develop detection and response capabilities to address emerging threats.
• Support major incident management and communicate with stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve security tooling.
• Work with clients and internal teams to maintain service quality.
• Mentor technical staff and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing or leading a SOC or security operations function.
• Experience overseeing incident response and major security incidents.
• Track record of developing analysts and improving team performance.
• Experience managing operational KPIs, SLAs and service delivery.
• Strong stakeholder communication and incident escalation skills.
• Understanding of current cyber threats, attack techniques and defensive controls.
• Ability to improve processes, develop playbooks and mature security operations.
• An MSSP, managed security services or client-facing cyber security background is advantageous.
