Site Safety Officer – Warehouse Automation

About the role

Join Dematic, a global leader in intelligent automation, as a Site Safety Officer on a large‑scale warehouse automation project for a global FMCG client. This 12‑month fixed‑term position is based onsite in Tarneit, Melbourne, where you will drive safety excellence across a complex, multi‑contractor environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide WHSE advisory support across all project activities and champion a proactive safety culture.
• Conduct site inspections, safety observations, audits, risk assessments, inductions, toolbox talks and pre‑start meetings.
• Review and support Safe Work Method Statements, procedures and permits, and maintain safety reporting, hazard and risk registers.
• Investigate incidents, support corrective and preventative actions, and assist in implementing the Site Safety Management Plan.
• Liaise with builders, principal contractors, client representatives and subcontractors on WHSE matters and participate in safety committees.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Health & Safety, WHS, OHS or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a site‑based safety role within construction, industrial or manufacturing projects.
• Experience on large‑scale, multi‑contractor projects and proven ability to influence safe behaviours.
• White Card and Australian Driver’s Licence.

Required skills

• Conducting WHSE audits, inspections and incident investigations.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management principles and safety management systems.
• Experience with Safe Work Method Statements, permits, LOTO and electrical safety practices.
