Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Leidos Australia is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer for its AGO GEO SPACES program. You will ensure the reliability, performance and resilience of mission‑critical platforms supporting national security outcomes in a secure, highly regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support availability, capacity and reliability of complex production environments using software engineering principles.
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 operational support, lead incident response, conduct root‑cause analysis and implement preventative improvements.
• Develop and maintain monitoring, alerting and logging capabilities with service metrics, SLOs and SLIs.
• Enhance automation, infrastructure‑as‑code and CI/CD practices, partnering with development and platform teams.

Required profile

• Experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, Systems Engineer or similar role supporting production environments.
• Strong Linux/UNIX administration, troubleshooting and performance analysis skills.
• Ability to investigate complex incidents, contribute to root‑cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.

Required skills

• Python, Go, Bash scripting.
• Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools: Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
• Monitoring, logging and observability practices.
• Virtualisation/cloud platforms: VMware, AWS, Azure, GCP.
• CI/CD pipelines and tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI.
