About the role
Eptec is seeking an experienced Shipwright to join its Defence Division, working on Australian Defence and commercial marine projects. The role involves preparing, welding and assembling ship parts, ensuring critical assets are maintained to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities
- Study plans and specifications, prepare templates and scale plans for hull fabrication.
- Weld centre bulkheads, frames, brackets, longitudinal bulkheads and rope reels on both port and starboard sides.
- Perform welding on carbon steel pipes, stainless steel plates, steam and high‑pressure pipes.
- Assemble boat shells and erect hull sections.
- Fabricate and repair vessels using aluminium, wood, glass, reinforced plastics, carbon fibre, Kevlar, fibreglass and concrete.
Required profile
- Strong safety mindset with a nationally accredited OHS (White/Blue) Card.
- Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience as a Shipwright.
- Team player with a safety‑first attitude.
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment medical and D&A screen.
Required skills
- Welding carbon steel and stainless steel components.
- Welding steam and high‑pressure piping systems.
- Hull fabrication and alignment.
- Construction with aluminium, wood, glass, reinforced plastics, carbon fibre, Kevlar, fibreglass and concrete.
