About the role
The SEO Director will lead strategy, client relationships and delivery across a portfolio of accounts, turning business objectives into measurable organic growth. Reporting to the Digital Experience Lead, the role bridges technical SEO, content, authority and AI search visibility with broader website experience improvements.
Key responsibilities
- Own SEO strategies and roadmaps aligned with client goals, audience needs and resources.
- Direct technical SEO, content, internal linking and authority initiatives, including complex site migrations.
- Set measurement frameworks and realistic targets for visibility, traffic, leads and revenue.
- Act as senior SEO contact for clients, leading planning sessions, performance reviews and strategic presentations.
- Coach SEO Managers and Executives, set delivery priorities and maintain quality standards.
- Partner with Paid Media, Content, Data & Analytics and development teams to integrate organic and paid insights.
- Lead approaches to generative AI search optimisation and evaluate emerging search developments.
Required profile
- Minimum 6 years of SEO experience with strategic ownership of multiple accounts or complex websites.
- Proven track record of linking SEO activity to measurable business outcomes.
- Experience leading and developing SEO specialists and managing senior client relationships.
- Strong commercial awareness, analytical judgement and confident communication with senior stakeholders.
Required skills
- Technical SEO expertise: crawling, indexing, site architecture, structured data, migrations.
- Proficiency with Google Search Console, GA4 and Looker Studio.
- Hands‑on experience using Screaming Frog and tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush or AccuRanker.
- Ability to validate measurement, interrogate performance data and brief technical implementation.
- Practical understanding of AI search visibility measurement and its limitations.
- Desirable: experience with BigQuery, SQL, Python or API integrations for analysis and automation.
