Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer – Dams

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join its Dams team in Melbourne. You will work on feasibility studies, design, construction and asset management for critical water infrastructure across Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical analysis and design of water dams, retarding basins and service basins from concept to detailed design.
• Inspect, investigate and assess condition of existing dams.
• Scope and conduct geotechnical investigations, interpret foundation conditions and characterize engineering properties of soils and construction materials.
• Provide construction support including inspection, quality control/assurance evaluation and reporting.
• Prepare tenders, proposals and mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary degree with CPEng and RPEV registration.
• Proven experience managing complex dam projects and delivering outcomes on time.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and commercial skills with ability to build client relationships.
• Collaborative, detail‑focused professional who thrives in deadline‑driven environments.
