Senior Systems Administrator – Platform Lifecycle & Automation

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to lead the evolution of Windows and Linux server platforms for a large enterprise. The role focuses on operating‑system lifecycle management, platform engineering, automation and modernising infrastructure at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve enterprise Windows and Linux server environments.
• Lead OS lifecycle activities such as upgrades, migrations, standardisation and platform modernisation.
• Develop and maintain secure Server Operating Environment (SOE) standards.
• Engineer and support virtualised environments, including VMware ESXi, vCenter and VM lifecycle management.
• Plan, test and apply OS patches, security updates and configuration changes.
• Build automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, Terraform and related tools.
• Create automated testing and validation frameworks (e.g., Pester, ServerSpec).
• Partner with infrastructure, security and project teams to deliver strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure or platform engineering within enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in Windows Server and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Proven experience delivering OS upgrades, platform refreshes and lifecycle projects.
• Experience working in large, highly regulated or enterprise‑scale organisations.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
