Senior Systems Administrator

About the role

The Reserve Bank of Australia is hiring a Senior Systems Administrator for its IT-Systems Services, Transition Team, based in Sydney CBD. The team ensures quality and reliability on the server fleet. The role reports to the Transition Team Lead and works directly with project and BAU teams, product vendors and technical teams. It requires expertise in on-premises infrastructure, hybrid technologies such as VMware products, virtual servers and appliances, and an understanding of industry compliance and vulnerability management.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure quality and reliability on the server fleet within the Transition Team.
• Work with project and BAU teams, vendors and technical teams to deliver project deliverables efficiently.
• Help solutions transition smoothly from project delivery into production support.
• Own solutions and ensure they are operationally ready before handover, with strong attention to documentation.

Required profile

• Solid experience administering Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) in enterprise environments, with sound Red Hat Linux expertise.
• Experience working across project delivery and BAU/operations teams.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, able to identify risks and resolve technical issues.
• Understanding of vulnerability management, security and industry compliance requirements.
• Strong stakeholder and communication skills, able to collaborate with project teams, technical specialists, vendors and operational teams.
• Proactive approach to ownership, documentation and operational readiness.

Required skills

• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs and domain services.
• Configuration automation tools such as Puppet.
• PowerShell and/or Bash scripting for automation.
• Patching, backups, monitoring, and incident/change/problem processes (ITIL awareness a plus).

The position is on a 12-month fixed-term contract with a hybrid arrangement requiring 50% office attendance.
