Senior Systems Administrator

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to ensure the stability, security and performance of Hewitt’s technology environment across Australia and the United States. Reporting to the Infrastructure and Security Manager, you will work hands‑on with Microsoft 365, Azure and core infrastructure platforms while supporting internal teams, MSPs and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and optimise Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, Windows Server, networking and enterprise applications.
• Lead cybersecurity initiatives, including Essential 8 maturity, vulnerability management and incident response.
• Manage backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions (e.g., Veeam) and conduct regular testing.
• Deliver infrastructure projects, system upgrades, automation and technology modernisation programmes.
• Provide advanced Level 2/3 technical support, mentoring and technical leadership across the IT function.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience managing complex Microsoft and cloud environments.
• Strong troubleshooting ability and a proactive mindset.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Passion for continuous improvement and mentoring junior staff.
