Engineering Director

About the role

The Engineering Director leads and mentors multiple engineering squads within Reapit’s regional business vertical. This people‑first leadership position balances hands‑on technical credibility with strategic people development, guiding teams toward a continuous deployment model.

Key responsibilities

• People leadership: line‑manage a broad group of engineers from junior to principal level, conduct regular one‑ons, performance reviews and career coaching.
• Engineering culture & modernisation: champion continuous deployment, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), and the reduction of legacy code in favour of cloud‑native architectures.
• Delivery & planning: align product road‑maps with business goals, plan squad resources, and report engineering efficiency metrics (DORA, code quality, debt reduction).
• Stakeholder management: collaborate with CISO, CIO, product, sales and regional leadership to ensure cross‑functional alignment.
• Security & compliance: embed security‑by‑design practices, oversee incident response, and manage tooling such as Snyk and AppCheck.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading and line‑managing software engineering teams, including engineers through to principal level.
• Strong engineering background with hands‑on delivery experience, providing credibility for technical guidance.
• Proven ability to lead teams through change, such as moving to continuous delivery and reducing rigid agile ceremonies.
• Experience in multi‑squad environments with resource and workforce planning.
