Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

Edward Jacobs is partnering with leading engineering consultancies to place experienced Structural and Senior Structural Engineers across Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane. The role offers the chance to take full technical ownership of residential, commercial and remedial projects from concept through to construction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural projects from initial concept and design through detailed documentation and construction support.
• Produce design solutions for residential, multi‑residential, mixed‑use and commercial buildings, including universities and schools.
• Conduct or support site inspections and construction‑stage activities.
• Collaborate directly with clients, architects, builders and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on structural engineering experience (up to 15 years for senior roles).
• Australian structural design experience, preferably in NSW or QLD, with full Australian working rights.
• Registration as a NSW Design Practitioner (Structural) and Professional Engineer under DBPA legislation (essential for some roles).
• Chartered status (CPEng/NER) or working toward it is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ETABS, SpaceGass, RAM Concept, RAPT and Structural Toolkit.
• Strong design capability across concrete, steel and timber structures.
• Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards.
• Technical problem‑solving, initiative and independent thinking.
