Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Leidos is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work on mission‑critical networks for the AGO GEO SPACES program in Canberra. You will join a team delivering large‑scale information integration systems and applying the latest technologies across the full software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to software prototyping, design, development and engineering approach selection.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineers to analyse, define and implement requirements.
• Perform coding, unit testing, integration and system testing.
• Customize and integrate tools, support system release and deployment.
• Ensure software quality by adhering to defined engineering processes and best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Australian citizenship with an active TSPV clearance and ability to obtain DISA/OSA clearance.
• Proven experience in a senior engineering or project role, preferably with geospatial systems.
• Strong knowledge of Agile/Kanban methodologies and modern DevOps practices.

Required skills

• Java and JavaScript development.
• Application frameworks and API services development.
• Secure development practices and enterprise integration patterns.
• CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes.
• REST/SOAP, messaging, JIRA and Confluence.
