Senior Software Engineer, Diagnostics

About the role

Arista Networks is seeking a senior software engineer to develop diagnostic software that validates high‑speed digital designs and improves manufacturing yields for network switches used in large data centers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and test production‑grade diagnostics software for cutting‑edge network switches.
• Bring‑up newly manufactured boards and perform root‑cause analysis of failures.
• Coordinate with hardware engineering on bring‑up schedules and feature delivery.
• Drive architectural design discussions, lead code reviews and provide technical direction for complex projects.

Required profile

• BS in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
• At least 8 years of software engineering experience, with significant focus on hardware validation, manufacturing diagnostics or low‑level systems programming.
• Demonstrated success delivering technical projects across cross‑functional teams.
• Interest in growing into an engineering management role.

Required skills

• Strong Python development with object‑oriented design.
• Understanding of Linux internals and system‑level debugging.
• Experience with board bring‑up and hardware interfaces (FPGAs, ASICs, I2C, SPI, MDIO, JTAG, PCIe).
• Familiarity with Layer 1/Layer 2 networking concepts and testing methodologies.
