Senior Safety Advisor - Defence Infrastructure Project

About the role

Laing O'Rourke, together with its joint venture partner Amentum Australia, is supporting Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) to deliver the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard (NPSCY) project at Osborne, South Australia. It is looking for a Senior Safety Advisor to join the AUKUS team. The role supports site teams and subcontractors in delivering health, safety and environment (HSE) best practice.

Key responsibilities

• Support site teams and subcontractors to deliver HSE best practice.
• Coach and mentor teams to strengthen safety culture and performance.
• Implement HSE management systems and project HSE plans.
• Conduct HSE audits and assurance activities through to close-out.
• Work proactively with teams to identify and resolve HSE concerns.

Required profile

• Cert IV in OHS, or a relevant Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety.
• More than 5 years of construction site-based experience.
• Demonstrated audit experience and experience coaching safety peers and project personnel in health and safety.
• Hands-on experience helping supervision and management close out HSE issues and actions.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance at NV1 level.
