Senior Rail Network Development and Strategy Lead

About the role

The Senior Rail Network Development Strategist helps plan Victoria's passenger and freight rail network for the short, medium and long term. The role uses evidence, modelling and technical rail expertise to identify future needs, gaps and risks, and develops strategies that support network growth and investment. It works closely with transport planners, rail operators, engineering, assets, rolling stock, ticketing and major projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop rail strategies and plans
• Advise leaders on emerging issues
• Provide technical input on signalling, traction power, rolling stock, operational systems and supporting infrastructure

Required profile

• At least five years' experience developing transport strategies and/or plans, with a focus on rail (mandatory)
• Strong understanding of Victoria's freight and passenger rail network, with technical expertise in rail systems
• Qualifications in Engineering or equivalent professional experience
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency or a valid work permit or visa for the position; pre-employment screening and reference checks required
