Senior Procurement Officer (12-month contract)

About the role

This 12‑month contract position is with a Federal Government Department in Canberra, delivering critical national functions. The Senior Procurement Officer will lead complex, high‑value procurement activities within a security‑focused business area, ensuring compliance with the Commonwealth Procurement Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver end‑to‑end complex procurement activities, from planning to contract award.
• Prepare procurement plans, tender documentation and evaluation reports.
• Manage procurement processes through AusTender.
• Provide procurement and contract‑management advice to internal stakeholders.
• Oversee supplier relationships, contract variations and dispute resolution.
• Monitor contract performance, extensions and renewals.
• Conduct procurement reporting, risk assessments and maintain accurate records.
• Support business‑improvement initiatives related to procurement.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience delivering complex government procurement activities.
• Strong knowledge of the PGPA Act and Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs).
• Demonstrated contract‑management experience using the Commonwealth Contracting Suite (CCS).
• Experience managing procurement processes through AusTender.
• Qualification in Procurement and/or Contract Management; government procurement qualifications are highly regarded.
• Australian citizenship and current NV1 security clearance are mandatory.
