Senior Planning Engineer - 8:6 FIFO Gold Mine

About the role

Catalyst Metals owns and operates the Plutonic Gold Mine in the Eastern Gascoyne region of Western Australia, which is expanding underground. Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, the Senior Planning Engineer provides technical leadership to the growth of underground operations, working with Planning Engineers, Geologists, Geotechnical Engineers and other Mining Engineers to deliver practical, executable mine plans. The role is based in Perth with an 8:6 FIFO roster.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of mine designs, including Development Mining Instructions, Stope Notes and Area Plans
• Develop and maintain mine planning procedures, standards and systems to support safe and efficient mining
• Conduct economic evaluations and mine design optimisation studies, assessing alternative mining methods and improving productivity and value
• Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to Planning Engineers

Required profile

• Degree in Mining or Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
• 5+ years in mechanised hard-rock underground mining, including 2+ years in mine planning
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring, with experience in economic evaluations and design optimisation
• Proactive, safety-focused approach and commitment to continuous improvement
• WA FCMM certificate or ability to obtain one (UG time completed)
• Current and unrestricted WA C Class driver's licence
