Senior OT Network/Cybersecurity Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail is seeking a self‑motivated Senior OT Network/Cybersecurity Engineer to design, implement, integrate and validate OT network and cybersecurity infrastructure for railway and critical‑infrastructure projects in Brisbane.

Key responsibilities

• Design end‑to‑end OT cybersecurity architectures aligned with IEC 62443 and TS 50701 principles.
• Define technical standards, reference architectures and design patterns for OT security platforms.
• Design, deploy, configure and validate network/perimeter security, access and identity, threat detection, endpoint security, monitoring and SOC enablement.
• Map solutions to IEC 62443‑3‑3 requirements and produce architecture documentation, hardening guides and configuration standards.
• Define and execute security FAT/SAT, validation and functional testing for security controls and OT subsystems.
• Manage changes through CCR/CCB and serve as the primary cybersecurity contact for project teams.
• Ensure designs comply with national cybersecurity regulations, critical‑infrastructure protection laws and data‑logging constraints.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, Telecommunications, Automation, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• 7–12 years of professional experience in IT/OT cybersecurity infrastructure, with architecture and deployment responsibility.
• Experience delivering cybersecurity solutions in railway, transportation, energy/utilities, oil & gas or similar critical‑infrastructure sectors.
• Knowledge of IEC 62443 (mandatory), CLC/TS 50701, NIST 800‑82/800‑53, ISO 27001/27005.
• Ability to work onsite at customer premises across inner Brisbane and coordinate with OT, network, system and SOC teams.
