Senior Oracle Database Administrator

About the role

Leidos Australia is seeking an experienced Oracle Senior Database Administrator to lead the design, administration and continuous improvement of enterprise Oracle database environments that support critical business services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation and optimisation of high‑availability, disaster‑recovery and capacity‑planning for Oracle databases across on‑premises, cloud and hybrid platforms.
• Partner with architects, infrastructure engineers, application teams and cybersecurity stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable and high‑performing database solutions.
• Drive transformation initiatives such as migrations, upgrades, platform modernisation, cloud adoption and automation.
• Provide technical leadership, establish engineering standards and mentor database professionals.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Oracle Database administration, architecture and engineering within large enterprise environments.
• Proven ability to collaborate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders and translate business requirements into secure, scalable solutions.
• Experience delivering technical guidance and mentoring to DBA teams.

Required skills

• Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, RMAN backup and recovery.
• Advanced SQL and PL/SQL development, performance tuning, indexing and partitioning.
• Oracle security features: authentication, authorisation, encryption, auditing and privileged‑access controls.
• Linux/Unix administration and automation scripting (Shell, Python, SQL, PL/SQL).
• Knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Autonomous Database, Exadata and other engineered systems (advantageous).
