Senior Network Engineer

About the role

Join Western Sydney University as a Senior Network Engineer to deliver secure, stable and high‑performing network services across a multi‑campus environment. You will support network transformation initiatives and ensure reliable connectivity for teaching, research and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, operate and continuously improve the university’s network infrastructure.
• Diagnose complex incidents, implement approved changes and monitor network health, capacity and performance.
• Support a multi‑vendor ecosystem including Cisco, HPE Aruba, ClearPass, Palo Alto, Ruckus wireless and application delivery platforms such as Citrix ADC/NetScaler.
• Contribute to network segmentation, Zero Trust, access control and secure connectivity projects.
• Strengthen observability, automation and oversee lifecycle refresh activities.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in IT or Network Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Proven enterprise network implementation, support and operations experience.
• Experience with segmentation, Zero Trust or network access control initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of IPv4/IPv6, VLANs, QoS and segmentation principles.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and communication skills.
