Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

JBU Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to expand its mechanical engineering capability across mining, industrial and infrastructure projects. You will work on brownfield plant upgrades, pumping and piping systems, and materials handling solutions while collaborating directly with senior engineers, project managers and directors.

Key responsibilities

• Design, size and upgrade pumping systems and associated mechanical infrastructure.
• Develop water and slurry pipeline solutions, perform hydraulic assessments and verification works.
• Deliver mechanical plant modifications and brownfield industrial upgrades.
• Specify and optimise conveyors, chutes, bins, transfers and other materials handling equipment.
• Prepare and review calculations, technical reports, specifications and risk assessments.
• Support Safety‑in‑Design, constructability and multidisciplinary design reviews.
• Manage project scopes, budgets and programme commitments, and liaise with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor junior engineers, contribute to QA standards and provide technical inputs for proposals.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in mining, industrial or consulting environments.
• RPEQ registration or progress towards it; CPEng or progression towards Chartered status is desirable.
• Proven experience with pumps, piping systems, mechanical plant or materials handling infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to produce and review calculations, reports and technical documentation.
